How It’s Made

Ever wonder how a piece of jewelry comes to life?
Discover how every Jose Balli piece is handcrafted in our New Orleans studio.

01 — Original Wax Carving

Every piece begins by hand.

Jose carves each design from solid jeweler's wax, transforming an idea into a detailed original model. Every curve, texture, and detail is shaped by hand before the piece ever becomes metal.

02 — Lost Wax Casting

An ancient technique, still done by hand.

Using the centuries-old lost-wax casting process, the wax model is melted away and replaced with molten sterling silver or bronze. What began as a hand-carved wax becomes a lasting piece of jewelry.

03 — Mold Making

Every detail is preserved.

Once the original carving is cast in metal, a mold is carefully created to capture every detail. That mold is then used to produce each wax model, ensuring every piece begins with the same handcrafted precision.

04 — Finished in New Orleans

Craftsmanship doesn't end with casting.

Every piece is carefully finished, assembled, polished, and inspected in our New Orleans studio. Nothing is outsourced, because where it's made matters just as much as how it's made.
