Popeyes Store Pendant
Our Popeye's Store charm is another way to enjoy one of New Orleans' favorite fried chicken spots. Popeye's was founded by Alvin C. Copeland in Arabi, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans in St. Bernard Parish. It first opened its doors on June 13, 1972, as "Chicken on the Run", then changed its name months later to "Popeye's Mighty Good Chicken". By 1975, the company had been renamed as "Popeye's Famous Fried Chicken & Biscuits". Copeland said he named the stores after the fictional detective Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle in the movie The French Connection, and not the popular comic strip character Popeye the Sailor.
